#FORTHWEEKKC BEGINS IN 2 WEEKS
Every forth week of the month in Kansas City, we will be having 3 poetry events 3 days in a row. This is a great opportunity to see the diversity that KC has to offer. If you are a traveling poet who is touring and are interested in a multi day experience or a local who desires more out of your city, forth week is perfect for you. Please get out and support your local poetry scene.
On Monday...
Starting in 2010 a group of individuals recognized a need for a night in Kansas City where poets, vocalists and artists alike could use an outlet to perform their work in front of their peers. Thus creating Soul Sessions
Over the past 5 years Soul Sessions has played a key role in the Historic 18th & Vine District, keeping alive it's flourishing live music and performing arts reputation. Featuring some of the most known and unknown acts in the nation, Soul Sessions has given artist in the midwest and abroad a stage to be heard.
Each Monday many guests attend this weekly open mic that is not exclusive to one race, culture nor background. This night attracts a diverse and ever-changing dynamic of individuals the city of Kansas City has to offer. A relaxing yet entertaining night at Soul Sessions is sure to take wicked 'case of the Mondays' and project you forward into a productive week ahead.
Doors open at 7pm with mood setting music by DJ Q
The show begins at 8pm with an introduction of Da Truth Band
Open Mic starts at 820pm with hosts Matt Cobbins and Rayla
The evening concludes around 11pm

This Is Slam ULIT's second season as a PSI Poetry Slam, Inc. certified slam venue. Meaning that winners of these slams will go on to our finals where they will battle it out for bragging rights and the chance to go Decatur, Georgia to represent Kansas City and ULIT at the world's largest poetry competition: as 2016 NPS (National Poetry Slam) SlamULIT slam team.
